Facilities

The new Queen Mother Building for the School of Computing opened in September 2005. It is designed for undergraduate and post-graduate teaching and research in computing, and incorporates the User Centre for research into the use of I.T. to support older people and disabled people. The building includes a multimedia research laboratory, a creative design laboratory, and a Human Interface research theatre, as well as the following facilities for student use:

  • 5 teaching laboratories (PC + Linux)
  • 1 lecture room
  • 1 seminar room
  • various student group meeting areas
  • creative design laboratories
  • wireless networking

Teaching Methods

The range of teaching methods includes: Lecture + laboratory + seminar + project, often using the virtual learning environment (Blackboard).

Dr Annalu Waller has responsibility for disabled support, and for liaison with the Disability Support Unit (university website).
