Applying for an MSc

Information Required

You will be able to help us reach a quick decision on your application if you ensure that you provide all the necessary information.

The following information is important to us in reaching our decision on your application.

  • Details of your degree(s). It is essential to give the name of the qualification, the name of the institution at which you studied, and an indication of how well you performed. If you can provide a transcript of the subjects you studied, and the marks obtained, that is very helpful.
  • If your first language is not English, your English language qualification(s).
  • A brief description of your experience of using computers.
  • A brief explanation of why you want to do this course. This helps us to ensure that the course is suitable for you.

For MSc in Computing Research only, please also send a 1-2 page description of your proposed research project, including a statement of which of our research groups you would like to work with.

References

The references can be important in influencing our decision. If possible, we like to have two referees in academic institutions who have taught you during your studies, at least one on your most recent course. However we do realise that this may be very difficult, especially if you have been away from education for a considerable time, so references from, for example, an employer, are quite acceptable.
