MSc in Applied Computing
This postgraduate degree is designed for graduates in subjects other than Computing who feel that a postgraduate degree in Applied Computing would be a relevant and marketable addition to their existing qualifications.
The degree aims to give students a firm grounding in the knowledge, skills and understanding of computing and software development to enable them to operate effectively in the application of computing to industry, commerce and research.
Format of course
The course runs from 13 September 2010 until 12 September 2011 (or 10 June 2011 for the Diploma course).
There is no January or February admission to this degree course. It consists of six taught units over two semesters, with an examination for each unit. Students then undertake an individual supervised project lasting until the end of the course.

Entry Requirements
Entry to the MSc requires an Honours degree at 2.2 level or above, or equivalent qualifications. Some experience of using computers is also required, but it is not necessary to have any experience of, for example, programming.
If your first language is not English, you also need to provide evidence of a sufficient level of proficiency in English. The School of Computing requires one of the following qualifications or the equivalent:
- TOEFL 580 (or 237 for the computer based test)
- IELTS 6.0
