Bursaries
There are many sources of bursaries available to students studying Computing degrees.
All are competitive and have different criteria, but we strongly encourage you to apply.
School of Computing Bursaries for Undergraduate Entrant Students
The School of Computing has Armistead and Laing bursaries available to undergraduate students in their entrant year of study.
For 2008/9 bursaries are available as follows:
Academic Excellence
One award of up to £375 for an entrant undergraduate student with an academically excellent record.
Women in Computing
One award of up to £375 for a female entrant undergraduate student.
Financial Support
One award of up to £375 for a student in need of financial support, eg for childcare.
Outstanding Portfolio (IMD only)
One award of up to £375 for a student embarking on an undergraduate BSc Interactive Media Design degree whose portfolio contains diverse media of an outstanding quality.
This bursary will be judged based on the portfolios submitted by applicants to IMD degrees, and you do NOT need to apply directly.
School of Computing Bursaries, General Information
Applications for the first three bursaries must be made on paper, using the official form and you must also send in a sealed reference from someone who can support your case.

The deadline is 30th June 2008, and bursaries are for students entering any School of Computing undergraduate degree (BSc or BEng).
The deadline for the Outstanding Portfolio is 30th June 2008, and is for students entering any Interactive Media Design undergraduate degree.
Applicants for all the bursaries must be liable for Home/EU fees, and will be awarded for your first year of study with us.
You must be holding a firm offer (CF or UF) by the application deadline.
The awards can be made in cash or in the form of equipment.

British Computer Society Undergraduate Bursaries
Our BSc Applied Computing degree is accredited by the British Computer Society, which means that students on that degree
are eligible to apply for the BCS Undergraduate Student Bursary.

University of Dundee Overseas Student Scholarships
Overseas Student Scholarships, worth £2000, are available to self-funded overseas students
on undergraduate and taught postgraduate courses. For details see the fee information for

University of Dundee Chancellor's Scholarships
The University of Dundee is offering 30 Scholarships of £1000 per annum to students with good academic potential,
while they study for an undergraduate 3 year honours degree.
Scholarship holders will receive a maximum of £3000 to help support them during their studies.

Boyack Bursaries
Boyack Bursaries, normally of an annual value of £500,
may be awarded for one year or more to second and subsequent year students of academic merit who are studying BSc Applied Computing.
Under the terms of the endowment a preference will be exercised in favour of applicants who:
- belong to, or are connected with, Monifieth
- do not qualify for full support from a student funding agency

Excel Sports Scholarships
The Excel Sports Scholarship Programme is dedicated to supporting elite University of Dundee student athletes as they combine academic study with
training and high levels of competition.
We can offer each athlete an individually tailored programme to reach the highest possible level of performance and excellence.

Music Scholarships
There are University of Dundee music scholarships available for organ, saxophone & voice.

Carnegie Trust
The Carnegie Trust offers fee assistance and scholarships to students for both undergraduate and PhD study.

Highland Children's Trust
Highland Children's Trust is a charitable trust set up to help with the educational needs of young people in the Highlands of Scotland.

India Scholarships
Up to ten School of Computing scholarships are available to citizens of India for undergraduate or postgraduate study in the School of Computing.
Each scholarship will amount to £1,000 per annum deducted from the international tuition fee.
Eligibility: applicants from India who have been offered a place to study full-time at the School of Computing and who begin study in September 2008.
