Current Research
I am a Lecturer and EPSRC Post-Doctoral Cross-Disciplinary Research Fellow in the School of Computing at the University of Dundee in Scotland. My research interests lie in the design of technology for demanding contexts in social and health settings.
My current research, Digital Inheritance, is supported by £240,000 EPSRC funding. The research explores the bequest, inheritance and repurposing of personal data (such as emails, photos and social network site interactions) in the context of the death of technology users.
During the Fellowship, I am working with the Centre for Death and Society at the University of Bath, where I am a Visiting Fellow, and SCRIPT (the AHRC Centre for Studies in Intellectual Property and Technology Law) at The University of Edinburgh. I also liaise with an industrial advisory board, made up of representatives from Microsoft UK and Intel Ireland, and the barrister Stephen Mason, a specialist in digital evidence.
