Well done to all competitors! I think all the courses required good navigational skills.
We did this event over 2 days to see what the turnout was like on Saturdays, as some members had felt we should have more Saturday events. We also wanted to encourage parents to bring children competing in the schools competition and thought a choice of days might lead to a higher turnout.
We had more people on the Sunday but still had a few non club members on the Saturday who seemed to enjoy themselves.
The times were quite slow and having gone round the extreme course myself on the Saturday (Moira was organising that day with help from Dave and Jennifer) I think spotting permanent markers is harder than spotting kites. Many of them just had the small orange and white square on one side so you were spotting a wooden pole in a wood which meant you had to be on top of the control to spot it. Some of them are also more distant from the feature than you would normally put a control and the odd path junction one had become obscured by flowering broom. Mountain bikers have also made extra paths.
