Organiser - Fran Loots.
Great setting for registration and not bad area – tough but technical. Hope all enjoyed the courses. Blue and yellow seemed about right - green a little long. Something a little less technical and shorter would no doubt have been welcomed by some. There were in fact 8 courses planned as I got it wrong and thought this was a SOSOL - whatever that is. It is a long time since I have planned for a local event and was totally bemused by all the terms so goodness knows what it is like for newcomers!!!
It was supposed to be a one man/woman show planner cum organiser cum controller - fortunately I shouted for help. It was still pretty chaotic on the day with around 84 folk taking part in addition to 70 odd army people. Folk seemed to cope with the DIY approach. Thanks to Donald Smith for being a star and dealing with the army as well as helping to put out controls and take them in and smooth things at the start etc. Thanks also to Liz Fraser for taking in control cards at the finish before she got too cold and to Dave Prentice for helping take in controls along with the planner for the next event Steve Clelland. Thanks also to local Harriers Liz and Shelagh who put out the yellow course for me. And last but not least thanks to Steve Nicolson who bought me a cup of tea at a point when I was gasping.....he did not need to bribe me. He won fair and square. Oops and Grant Carstairs who taped a few controls in advance but did NOTHING TO HELP ON THE DAY!!!!!
