Organiser - Donald Smith.

After a beautiful, warm, dry afternoon putting out controls, I was disappointed that the rain came on for an hour while I was waiting for the first competitors to arrive. However, the weather then brightened up and most people got their courses in dry. However, the worst was yet to come and the heavens opened with a vengeance while the last few were out on their runs.

There was a rather small turnout, which was a pity for such a lovely area. Congratulations to Martin Dean, the only non-TAY runner, who made light work of the Green course. A commendation must also be reserved for Jen McCullagh, who was persuaded to tackle the long course and completed it successfully in spite of enduring the full brunt of the heavy downpour. Another quartet of TAY runners had a good battle, coming in less than 5 minutes apart.

It was good to see two very young competitors trying the Orange course, with a little help. Catriona Roberts found a sprint at the end to beat Finlay Downie narrowly.

My thanks go to Catriona and her Mum for offering to take in controls at the end, little realising what foul weather was about to descend on them. Particular thanks also to Dave Prentice, who collected all the distant controls, knowing full well what the weather was like!
