Organiser - Dave Prentice

At the Kinnoull Open Day on Saturday, 30 visitors took advantage of the free courses and tried out orienteering - or in some cases used the excellent terrain for practice. It was a case of the latter on the long hard course, with three experienced orienteers from Forth Valley Orienteers led by a Scottish squad member nearly making a clean sweep of the top three places. Steve Nicolson raced round the 4.6kms long hard course with its 200m of climb in 31 minutes 50 seconds, followed by Penny Hicks in 38 mins, but Tay's Dave Weir, making one of his rare appearances, put in an excellent run, just missing out on second place with a time of 38.31. Fraser Purves of FVO was 4th in 41.20 with Ged Keane the second Tay runner in 6th place with a time of 51.20.

On the short hard course, Morvern Docherty of Tay came in first with a time of 47 minutes and on the easy courses Katrina Adam completed the long course in 55 minutes and on the short course Felicity Martin ensured her nephew did not get lost, completing the circuit in 39 minutes.

Kinnoull Hill was at its best and runners from Stirling, Edinburgh and Aberdeen all commented on the beauty of the woodland.
