See how they ran: Green course split times (Excel format)

Organiser's Comments

Around 46 runners turned up in various groups despite my pessimistic forecast of 'being lucky to reach double figures', so that made it well worth running the event. Great to see lots of TAY members and some of the local schoolkids enjoying a run as a progression from the schools programme.

Using the permanent markers makes for a slightly different planning experience. I found some of the posts quite hard to see initially, so I used kites for the shorter courses, but not on the green. They certainly make setting up in the morning dead easy as you dont need to put controls out, but they can also get buried in the undergrowth, so a bit of last minute panic gardening was required to ensure that small people could find them.

I did put out SI units on the Green, but using Dave Prentices new 'Mk 3 canes' with auxiliary custom formed SI attachment (fence wire and gaffer tape) made this a lot easier. I could still run fairly easily while holding 12 of the canes and carrying the SI units on a sort of bandolier which would have been an impossibility with T-bars.

Hopefully we will have the master maps sorted out in the near future allowing the permanent markers to be used at any time.

Thanks to Elaine for helping with registration and collecting the kites in after, and to Laura for helping out after her run.
