Tayside Orienteers Events for 2012

Below are details of our events for this year. Information about times, courses and entry fees is provided where available. This list will updated through the year as more events are confirmed, so keep checking back for more information.

Some general points to note:

Our events are all BOF Level D (Local) unless otherwise stated. These are generally suitable for all ages and abilities, including beginners. There will always be somoene around to help you if you're not sure what to do. More information on British Orienteering event classification.
Unless specifically stated, we use SportIdent (SI) electronic punching at all our events. We will have SI e-cards for hire at each event, so don't worry if you don't have one or haven't used one before.
The Tay Grand Prix is an informal club league - points will be awarded for performance at each qualifying event.

NEXT UP! Local Event, Black Spout Wood, Pitlochry, March 31st (Saturday)

Note that the date of this event has changed from the original scheduled date.

Venue: Black Spout Wood, Pitlochry. A pleasant mix of deciduous and coniferous woodland, mainly SW facing slopes, interspersed with steep-sided valleys. Good network of paths.
Available courses: Yellow, Orange - both suitable for juniors and beginners. Green and Blue courses are more challenging. Course lengths to be confirmed
Registration and Start times: tbc
Entry Fees: Adults £4, Juniors and students £2, Second course an extra 50p.

Scottish Orienteering League 2012

The Scottish Orienteering League (SOL) - Seven league events are held each year, with a competitor's best four results to count.

The fixtures for 2012 (area, nearest town, date) are:

SOL 1: Torinturk, Oban, 18th March
SOL 2: ?, Dumfriesshire, 15th April
SOL 3: Battan, Inverness, 13th May
SOL 4: Forvie, Ellon, 9th September
SOL 5: Errochty, Blair Atholl, 23rd September
SOL 6: North Third, Stirling, 21st October
SOL 7: ?, Lanarkshire, 28th October

Other events in Scotland and the UK

This year, the Jan Kjellstr�m International Festival of Orienteering (the JK), a four day orienteering competition which takes place annually over the Easter weekend, comes to Scotland. Following the Sprint event at Livingston, focus moves to Perthshire, with events at Dunkeld and Kinloch Rannoch.
