The weather was glorious, the children tremendously enthusiastic and the results terrific at the Belmont Outdoor Centre by Meigle on Wednesday when 60 teams of three from the central schools competed.

It was the St Madoes team, ‘Little, Large and Medium Man’ (Jordan Battie, Glen Adams and Scott Smith) who went round all the control markers in an impressive new record time of 31 minutes 10 seconds, well beating the previous 2004 record of 35.29. It was a good job they did, as the following two teams, both from the Robert Douglas Memorial School, Scone also beat the record, with Pork Chop Smile (Andrew Steeves, Callum Blyth, Jake Dowell) second in 32.49 and Galaxy Girls (Rachel Halkerstown, Sandra Scott, Louise Callum) third in 34.42. Mean Machine from Inchture and Super Cyber Galactic Warriors from St Madoes (I suppose that with a name like that, they had to do well) also scored the maximum points.

Eight teams from RDM qualified for the finals, with four from St Madoes and two each from Inchture, Invergowrie, Luncarty and Stanley.
