Communication of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired
Communication of the Deaf and Hearing Impaired
Deaf and hearing impaired people rely on non-verbal communication and facial expressions.
They can find text-only communication, e.g. textphones, very problematic.
Many prefer face-to-face communication to text.
The design of textphones causes problems e.g. small displays.
These factors mean that we can gain an insight into the importance of non-verbal communication.
Using this insight and their feedback, is there a way to incorporate the electronic equivalent of physical cues into the user interface?
