How to get here

Within the City

Interviews for the MSc in Design Ethnography (for those able to get to the campus, others will be interviewed by phone) will be held in the School of Computing. The School of Computing is located on the main University Campus in the Queen Mother Building, (building 61 on the Campus Map). It is a new building situated on the road on the map which is shown connecting Park Wynd and Balfour Street. If the reception Office in the entrance of the foyer is empty, go to the General Office on the first floor.

By Car

Dundee is linked to the rest of the UK by continuous motorway and dual carriageway. The main road linking Dundee is the A90, on approach to Dundee, follow signs for City Centre and University.

Enter city at Swallow Roundabout – turn right along A85 following signs to city centre and University of Dundee.

At roundabout (just before airport) turn left, go up the hill, turn right at the top into Perth Road. Drive past Invercarse Hotel and go straight ahead taking the left fork when you pass two sets of traffic lights. At this point the Perth Road becomes Hawkhill. Turn right at the roundabout into Hunter Street then right again at the mini-roundabout in Old Hawkhill.

If you park in a car park near the Queen Mother Building, you will need to collect a car-parking permit from the School of Computing Reception.

Car parking on campus is by permit only, visitors should contact the School of Computing prior to travel to arrange visitor permits, or use the public car park to the north of building 14.

By Rail

The University is only a few minutes walk from the railway station. Information on train times can be found from Network Rail or by phoning the National Rail Enquiries Centre on 08457 48 49 50.

There are direct services to Dundee from Newcastle, York and London on the East Coast main line and from Carlisle, Preston, Birmingham, Coventry, Oxford, Bristol, Plymouth, Reading, Southampton, Bournemouth on the West Coast main line. There are overnight sleeper services to and from London. Rail journeys from the other major cities in Scotland (Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Glasgow) take approximately 75 minutes and the regular service from London King's Cross takes only six hours.

By Air

The University is only five minutes drive from Dundee airport. Scheduled flights to and from London City airport (four times daily) connect with many other destinations within the UK, Europe and worldwide. Alternatively, Edinburgh international airport can be reached by motorway in approximately one hour.

Scotland is served by four international airports, all within a reasonable driving distance from Dundee. Edinburgh and Aberdeen are only an hour and 30 minutes drive, while Prestwick is the furthest away at around 3 hours drive.  For more information see the airport websites below.
