I'm a third-year PhD student at the School of Computing of the University of Dundee. My work is on automated analysis of breast tissue microarrays, being supervised by Prof. Stephen McKenna and funded by the Breast Cancer Research Trust. The school is involved in several other computer vision and imaging research projects.

For my contact details, please consult this page.

Background

In 2000, I completed a licentiate's degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Porto (FEUP), in Portugal, with a final-year project on simulation of digital-hardware testing. In 2005, I completed a master's degree, also in Electrical and Computer Engineering at the FEUP, with a project and dissertation on remote experimentation.

Between 1998 and 2001, I was a colaborator of the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering of the FEUP, working on: simulation of digital-hardware testing, within the above-mentioned final-year project; assistive technologies, within the EU-funded project CUSTODIAN; and mixed-signal hardware testing, within the EU-funded project ALLEGRO.

Between 2001 and 2003, I worked based in the FEUP as a foreign consultant to the Knowledge Media Institute and the Institute of Educational Technology at the Open University, developing accessible software for remote experimentation, within the EU-funded project PEARL.

Between 2003 and 2006, I was a research assistant at the School of Computing of the University of Dundee, working on the evaluation of packages of telecare technology, within the UK-funded project Supporting Independence.
