About Me
Work...
To get where I am today, I spent a great deal of time with my head in books, cramming for
exams and writing up dissertations. Here is a quick overview:
- I work as a part-time research assistant for the Digital Media Access Group.
- I recently defended my PhD, "The Sonic Mapping Tool", here in the School of Computing. You can find out more about it on my research page.
- I graduated with an MSc in Applied Computing in 2003. My thesis was entitled "A Computer Based Interview for Children on Sensitive Issues". Click here to download a copy of my MSc thesis, but please note that the appendices are missing, and the website described has long been removed from the server, hence the links referred to will not work!
- I studied accountancy at the University of Abertay Dundee, graduating with a BA (Hons) degree in 1998. My dissertation has long since disappeared into my attic...
- Before returning to the (strange) world of academia, I worked for 4 years as an accounts assistant in Dundee and in Edinburgh.
Play...
As you might guess from my PhD research interests, I am a frustrated musician.
Over the past ten years or so, I have built up a small home studio with which I use to write a
variety of tracks, from general dance music to orchestral and slightly bizarre
mashups
and remixes.
Miscellaneous...
- I am learning Danish as a hobby. It's a long story.
- My favourite sport is football (of the soccer variety).
- I also like to read - if you are interested, please look at my current reading list (although I haven't updated it for quite some time).
- This is not me!
