Questionnaire - Requirements Gathering for an Inclusive Digital Economy
Are you involved in the design of technologies for the workplace? Are you, for example, a user interface designer? If so, we would be grateful if you could take the time to complete this short questionnaire.
About this Questionnaire
We are examining the use of technology in the workplace with particular reference to the challenges, and also the opportunities, such technologies offer to the older worker. In June 2009, we organised a number of sessions in which we invited participants to come up with requirements for an MSN Messenger-type messaging tool called "Blether" (see example screenshots below). In the following questionnaire, you will be asked to "rate" each of the generated requirements, based upon three factors:
- In your opinion, how important you think the requirement is;
- In your opinion, how novel you think the requirement is;
- In your opinion, the priority you would give to the requirement.
You will also be given the opportunity to add your own comments to individual requirements. The questionnaire should take about 10-15 minutes to complete.
"Blether"
Blether is a representation of an "instant messaging" tool that could be used to allow staff members within an organisation to contact each other instantly over the computer rather than by phone or by e-mail. Some examples of how "Blether" might work are given within the following screenshots:

Participants in our study provided requirements which they felt would allow the "redesign" of Blether in order to ensure older workers would be more comfortable in using it.
