Evidence of value in personal development planning

Value of student participation in critical reflective practices at university

This study was funded by the Higher Education Academy. The work was to investigate the value of personal development planning (PDP), taking a discipline focus and extending into early graduate careers. It also took the views of employers to the value of one key component of PDP - that of critical reflection.

This work has produced the following suite of deliverables:

Finally, it has provided a replicable methodology and tools that staff in other institutions and disciplines might draw upon in conducting similar investigations in their own institutions and disciplines.

Key findings from the investigation were drawn from published literature, case studies, the questionnaire responses and interviews. From this we have made five recommendations.
