MemoJog

A new aid for people with memory loss

Welcome to the MemoJog Research Project web site. Here you will be able to find out more about the project, who is involved and our contact information.

This project is now finished having ran for three years, from October 2000 until October 2003. We are currently seeking funding to carry out further development and perform a more widespread user trial.

Overview

Memory problems can severely disrupt daily life. 'Losing your memory' is often associated with the ageing process, while memory loss is one of the commonest forms of brain injury. MemoJog is a research project which aims to develop a new aid for people suffering from this difficult problem and therefore aims to improve their quality of life. Previous studies have shown a simple pager system designed to address memory problems has great promise, though evaluations have indicated that significantly improved functionality would greatly enhance the systems usability. The MemoJog project will research the requirements for, develop and evaluate a prototype interactive memory aid for older people and people with significant memory loss due to other causes.

The project was run in partnership between the Department of Applied Computing (University of Dundee) and the Oliver Zangwill Centre, an internationally renowned neuropsychological rehabilitation centre (based in Ely, Cambs.) which provides specialist rehabilitation for people with brain injury. The memory aid design builds on the Oliver Zangwill Centre's experience with memory loss sufferers and the prototype memory aid was evaluated within the Centre.
