Business Intelligence

BI (Business Intelligence) is an umbrella term for a number of techniques/processes that are used to extract information from data. As the name implies, BI is typically applied to business data. However it is often overlooked that BI is applicable to data generally and therefore can be applied to scientific data.
Research in this area has led to the application of BI to scientific fields as diverse as:
The history of science
Primate behaviour
Analysis of protein structure
