Speech Synthesis

Incorporates personality and emotion and has resulted in our software, HAMLET, one of the world's first emotional speech synthesizers.

Since 1986, Applied Computing staff have published numerous journal articles and conference papers on this speech synthesis and its applications. Emphasis has included Augmentative and Alternative Communication systems for non-speaking people. Invited papers have been given at the International Conference on Spoken Language Processing and at a special meeting of the British Computer Society Human Communication Interaction Group.
